Alexis Chaney’s knowledge of and work in music and psychology lend to her unique perspective in regard to connecting with people and viewing the world.
Alexis is working to become a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. Her work and internship history span across many fields in both the for- and non-profit sectors. She currently works as a Registered Behavior Technician at Autism Response Team of Texas. Alexis has currently written “Deutsche Pädagogik für Moderne Sänger: On the Merit of Armin’s Stauprinzip” (Stauprinzip, also known as the “damming principle,” is a German vocal technique that involves closing one's vocal folds and letting air build up underneath it) and “The Manifestations of Music Performance Anxiety in Relation to College-Aged Music Students," and plans to write more as she learns more about her field and fine-tunes her specialty.
Hailing from Alabama, Alexis attended the University of North Texas and considers North Texas to be her home. She majored in Psychology and minored in German and Music. During her studies, she was a Research Assistant in the Teen Stress and Alcohol Research Lab, headed by Dr. Heidemarie Blumenthal and a Housing Ambassador in UNT's Housing and Residence Life department. She has also taken German classes from a variety of professors, including Dr. Carol Anne Costabile-Heming. Alexis also has experience regarding vocal pedagogy and physical and mental health research in these fields, all of which round out her experiences at UNT. Among her certifications are "Social and Behavioral Research"(Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Program) and "GCP for Clinical Trials with Investigational Drugs and Biologics [International Council for Harmonisation Focus]" (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Program).
Alexis' main hobby is collecting coffee mugs and she currently has over fifty-five between her family home and Denton, Texas, where she now resides. She hopes to own a cat (especially a Ragdoll) in the near future and avidly enjoys chai tea, traveling, and updating her digital reading journal.
